How headlight condition matters
North Carolina’s safety inspection covers vehicle lighting, and headlights that are damaged or degraded enough to affect how they perform can be a concern. Surface oxidation, cracks, moisture inside the housing, and heavy discoloration all change how much light reaches the road and can shift its color.

Where cloudy headlights come in
- Reduced output — heavy haze scatters and blocks light.

How restoration helps
When the problem is surface oxidation, a restoration typically clears the lens and improves light output — and usually costs far less than replacing the assembly. It helps lens clarity and oxidation; it can’t fix a cracked lens or internal damage, and it doesn’t guarantee an inspection result.
